Soccer Game Preview: Stevenson vs. Carmel

The Stevenson Patriots are taking a road trip to square off against the Carmel Corsairs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Stevenson is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Lake Zurich, who was ranked 22nd at the time (Stevenson was ranked 19th). The Patriots fell just short of the Bears by a score of 1-0 on Wednesday. Having soared to a lofty eight goals in the game before, Stevenson's shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, Carmel kept a clean sheet against Palatine on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 2-0. Carmel haven't had any issues with Palatine recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Carmel's victory bumped their record up to 8-9-2. As for Stevenson, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 5-1-1 and their overall record down to 9-4-3.

Stevenson beat Carmel by a goal in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 2-1. Do the Patriots have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Corsairs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
