Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Benson). Everything went their way against the San Miguel Vipers on Thursday as Benson made off with a 22-1 win. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Mandy Watson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Benson got a massive performance out of Kaylei Taylor, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits Taylor has posted since back in April of 2024. Millie Kellogg also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Benson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
The win made it two in a row for Benson and bumps their season record up to 7-9. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for San Miguel, they dropped their record down to 0-6 with the loss, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Looking ahead, Benson will challenge Apache Junction at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for San Miguel, they will host Phoenix Christian at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
