Austin had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 48-35 win over the Northside Panthers. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Despite the loss, Northside still got an impressive performance from Jerryus Mathews, who posted 22 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Roberts, who earned six points and three steals.

Austin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-56 win against Cesar E. Chavez on the 15th. As for Northside, they have also already played their next matchup, a 75-46 victory against Scarborough on the 21st.
