Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Groton School). They blew past the St. George's Dragons 16-1 on Friday. The win continues a trend for Groton School in their matchups with St. George's: they've now won five in a row.

Leighton Matney looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits.

At the plate, Groton School let Yuri Tanaka and Kaiden Donia run wild. Tanaka went 3-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Donia went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Groton School is undefeated when Tanaka posts two or more runs, but 1-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Wig, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

Groton School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as St. George's only managed three hits.

Groton School's victory bumped their record up to 4-6. As for St. George's, they dropped their record down to 0-8 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Groton School will be playing at home against Phillips Academy at 4:45 p.m. on Friday. Groton School are facing the Big Blue at the right time seeing as the Big Blue are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for St. George's, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Rivers at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. The Red Wings have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something the Dragons will no doubt try to take advantage of.
