Baseball Game Preview: Hinsdale South Hornets vs. Oak Forest Bengals

The Hinsdale South Hornets will head out to square off against the Oak Forest Bengals at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hinsdale South has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Hinsdale South came up short against York on Tuesday, falling 12-3. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Oak Forest not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since May 22, 2024. They put the hurt on Crete-Monee with a sharp 7-0 victory. The Bengals' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Oak Forest got a big performance out of Bryce Hoffman, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits Hoffman has posted since back in April of 2024. Kevin Sullivan also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Hoffman wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Oak Forest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Oak Forest's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Hinsdale South, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
