Basketball Recap: Florence Takes a Loss

Florence was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 40-29 to the Blue Ridge Yellow Jackets. The Gophers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Yellow Jackets apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.

Florence's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Blue Ridge, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-6.

Florence and Blue Ridge could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings. Florence (ranked 202nd) will meet Seton Catholic (ranked 63rd) at 5:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Meanwhile, Blue Ridge will square off against Show Low at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025 down 93 places (121 vs. 28).
