Mars had won seven straight road games dating back to last season and Ayden Yocum did his part to make it eight on Friday. The Fightin' Planets walked away with a 29-21 victory over the Montour Spartans with plenty of help from Yocum, who rushed for 327 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards.

Special teams played a big role in the game for Mars, adding 11 points to the final score. All came from Frank Knezovich: he went 3-for-3 kicking field goals for nine points, and 2-for-2 kicking extra points for an additional two.

One reason for the win was Mars' imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In that department, Ethan Kresinski was the leader with two.

When it comes to explaining why Montour lost, don't look at Caden Halajcio. Despite the final result, he rushed for 185 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 10.3 yards per carry. Halajcio also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making ten total tackles (3.0 for loss) and defending one pass.

Mars' win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Montour, their record now sits at 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mars will take on West Mifflin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Fightin' Planets will be up against the Titans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 29.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Montour, they will host Blackhawk at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That match will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Halajcio and Brayden McCarthy.
