Basketball Recap: Ponchatoula Makes It 18 in a Row at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ponchatoula). They breezed by the Loranger Wolves to the tune of 91-42 on Friday. Given the Green Wave's advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Wolves are ranked 259th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Ponchatoula pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.4 points per game. As for Loranger, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-10.

Ponchatoula will take on Independence in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. One thing working in Independence's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups. As for Loranger, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pine at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
