The Rampart Rams will head out to challenge the Discovery Canyon Thunder at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Rampart, yet to win a game, are hoping to taste some of the success that has characterized Discovery Canyon's (thus far) undefeated season.
Last Saturday, Rampart didn't have quite enough to beat Grand Junction and fell 8-7.
Rampart got a good showing from Brody Gum, who tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, Vince Carpio was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. Cash Carpio was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Discovery Canyon hadn't beaten Vista Ridge on the road since May 29, 2021 but that history sure didn't bother them on Monday. Discovery Canyon was the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over Vista Ridge. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Thunder have posted against the Wolves since May 5, 2018.
Carson Seeley was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Tristan Propes, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Discovery Canyon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Discovery Canyon's win bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Rampart, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.
Rampart came out on top in a nail-biter against Discovery Canyon in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, sneaking past 8-6. Does Rampart have another victory up their sleeve, or will Discovery Canyon turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
