Basketball Recap: Hatley Takes a Loss

If Hatley was riding high fresh off their 63-37 takedown of Hamilton on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers had to suffer through a 71-38 loss at the hands of the Walnut Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-61 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why Hatley lost on Tuesday, don't look at Kelsey Coffey. Despite the final result, she posted 13 points.

Walnut can attribute much of their success to Baylee Spight, who scored 15 points. Those 15 points gave Spight a new career-high. Another player making a difference was MaryReese Pitney, who earned ten points.

Hatley's loss dropped their record down to 17-11. As for Walnut, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Hatley wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 45-31 defeat against Baldwyn on the 13th. As for Walnut, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-45 victory against New Site on the 13th.
