Basketball Game Preview: Webster Groves Statesmen vs. Westminster Christian Wildcats

The Webster Groves Statesmen will take on the Westminster Christian Wildcats on Wednesday. One thing working in Webster Groves' favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 18 matchups.

Webster Groves is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 71-70 win over Sikeston.

Meanwhile, Westminster Christian had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 48-40 victory over the Stars. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Stars are ranked 107th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Webster Groves has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points over those games. Westminster Christian's win bumped their record up to 13-4.

Webster Groves came out on top in a nail-biter against Westminster Christian in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, sneaking past 56-54. The rematch might be a little tougher for Webster Groves since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
