Soccer Game Preview: Civic Memorial vs. Triad

Civic Memorial is 0-10 against Triad since May of 2021 but things could change on Tuesday. The Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Knights at 5:45 p.m. Civic Memorial will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Civic Memorial's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Alton with a sharp 3-0 win. Give Civic Memorial's defense some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Avery Huddleston and Landree Wallace scored all three of Civic Memorial's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 22 goals.

Meanwhile, Triad won against Mascoutah on Tuesday with two goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Thursday. The Knights came out on top against Waterloo by a score of 2-0. The victory continues a trend for Triad in their matchups with Waterloo: they've now won seven in a row.

Triad's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 23 goals over those five games. As for Civic Memorial, their record now sits at 7-12.

Civic Memorial suffered a grim 4-0 defeat to Triad in their previous matchup back in April. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
