Basketball Recap: Arrupe Jesuit Takes a Loss

Arrupe Jesuit suffered their biggest defeat since January 30, 2024 on Thursday. They were beaten by the Bennett Tigers 63-31. The loss continues a trend for the Generals in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost four in a row.

Arrupe Jesuit's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christian King, who posted nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mario Cabrera, who scored six points and four steals.

Owen Stiers was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 17 on his way to 24 points in addition to eight boards and three steals for Bennett. Austin Stiers was another key player, going 5 of 8 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Arrupe Jesuit's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3. As for Bennett, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-3.

Arrupe Jesuit has already played their next matchup, a 47-42 win against Conifer on the 25th. As for Bennett, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 51-38 victory against Englewood on the 28th.
