Basketball Recap: Wimberley Starts off Right with Win over Devine

Wimberley had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They breezed past the Devine Warhorses / Arabians to the tune of 82-45 on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Texans in their matchups with the Warhorses / Arabians: they've now won six in a row.

Paul Gumbert-Mendoza had an outrageously good game as he went 10-for-18 to rack up 28 points in addition to six assists and five boards. His afternoon made it 16 games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Reece Wortham, who posted 14 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wimberley will look to takes advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they takes on St. Andrew's at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Devine, they will welcome Highlands at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
