Softball Recap: Trimble County Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Spencer County, Trimble County was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They blew past the Walton-Verona Bearcats 22-12. The result was nothing new for the Raiders, who have now won four matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jaelyn Holbrook was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with one home run, five runs, and five RBI. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Jocie Stucker was another key player, going a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Trimble County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 22 hits. They got seven more hits than Walton-Verona's also-impressive total of 15.

Trimble County pushed their record up to 8-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Walton-Verona, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.

Trimble County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, an 11-1 victory against Shelby County on the 19th. As for Walton-Verona, they will face off against Owen County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bearcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season.
