Baseball Game Preview: Ripon Indians vs. Sonora Wildcats

The Ripon Indians will head out on the road to face off against the Sonora Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Thursday, Ripon came up short against Hughson and fell 9-5. The Indians haven't had much luck with the Huskies recently, as the team has come up short the last five times they've met.

Landon Espinola was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

Meanwhile, Sonora didn't have quite enough to beat Ripon on Wednesday and fell 2-1.

Grady Jasmer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Sonora saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tommy Sutton, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Sonora's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Ripon, their loss dropped their record down to 5-7.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Ripon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sonora struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Ripon skirted past Sonora 2-1 when the teams last played on Wednesday. The rematch might be a little tougher for Ripon since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
