Softball Recap: Tucumcari Has No Trouble Against Pecos

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Estancia, Tucumcari was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 28-10 margin over the Pecos Panthers. The victory continues a trend for the Rattlers in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.

Hayley Naranjo was a standout: she fired off two home runs, six RBI, and four runs while going 3-for-3. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Cambree Benevidez was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two stolen bases.

Tucumcari always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .886. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Tucumcari pushed their record up to 7-12 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 28.0 runs over those games. As for Pecos, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.

Tucumcari will have a chance to go back-to-back against Pecos: the pair will be back at it again later today.
