Basketball Recap: Union City Takes a Loss

Union City lost against Clinton Central back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The contest between the Union City Indians and the Clinton Central Bulldogs didn't end well, with the Union City Indians falling 40-22. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 330th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 159th).

Gabrielle Ordonez was Union City's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Campbell Kerns held things down on the boards with six rebounds.

It was another big night for Carly Davison, who went 8 of 12 on her way to 20 points along with seven boards and six assists for Clinton Central. That makes it three consecutive games in which Davison has scored at least a third of Clinton Central's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Long, who posted ten points in addition to five rebounds and three steals.

Union City has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season. As for Clinton Central, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.

Union City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 36-31 defeat against Adams Central on the 4th. As for Clinton Central, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-47 win against Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian on the 4th.
