Baseball Recap: Edgar Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Edgar barely beat Prentice the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wildcats' pitchers stepped up to hand the Buccaneers a 7-0 shutout on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Buccaneers: they've now won seven in a row.

Sawyer Weiland made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Weiland was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Leyton Schuett was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jase Apfelbeck, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Edgar's win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Prentice, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Edgar and Prentice will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Wildcats will challenge rival Marathon at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Prentice is set to square off against their familiar foe Phillips at 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
