Soccer Recap: Groton Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with West Central

Groton faced West Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Tigers fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 1-0. Groton were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced West Central earlier this season, when they won 1-0.

This is the second loss in a row for Groton and nudges their season record down to 6-4. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 6-1 Dakota Valley (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 75.4% over those games). As for West Central, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3-1.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Groton is set to challenge their familiar foe Dakota Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, West Central will square off against rival Mitchell at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
