Preview: Calhoun City Wildcats vs. Water Valley Blue Devils
The Calhoun City Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Water Valley Blue Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Calhoun City has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 208 points over their last three matches.
Calhoun City put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They really took it to Bruce for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-29 victory on the road. With Calhoun City ahead 39-13 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Water Valley suffered their biggest defeat since November 14, 2023 on Saturday. They were beaten by West Tallahatchie 58-25. Water Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-8.
Calhoun City's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-8. As for Water Valley, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season.
Calhoun City was able to grind out a solid victory over Water Valley when the teams last played back in January of 2015, winning 73-60. The rematch might be a little tougher for Calhoun City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
