Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Laguna Acoma). They blew past the Navajo Pine Warriors 23-1 on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Jayden Dailey made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Laguna Acoma got a massive performance out of Patrick Smith, who fired off two home runs, four stolen bases, and four runs while going 2-for-2. Those two home runs gave Smith a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Derek Victorino Jr, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs.
Laguna Acoma was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .600. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Laguna Acoma's record now sits at 12-7. As for Navajo Pine, their defeat was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-17.
