The Warwick Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Valley Central Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Warwick will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
On Monday, Warwick beat Goshen Central 6-2.
Meghan Tennant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Camryn Moore was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-2. Those home runs were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Eva Garofalo, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Warwick lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Valley Central). Everything went their way against Washingtonville on Monday as they made off with an 18-6 win. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Emily Sharpe was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up six earned runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Valley Central got a massive performance out of Adrianna Ferraro, who went 3-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those four stolen bases gave Ferraro a new career-high. Emily Smit was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs.
Valley Central pushed their record up to 5-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 12.7 runs this season. As for Warwick, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Warwick hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Valley Central struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Warwick couldn't quite finish off Valley Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
