Basketball Recap: University Starts off Right with Win over Freedom + How To Watch

University gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They really took it to the Freedom Patriots for the full four quarters, racking up an 83-28 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won eight in a row.

University had a senior duo take command as Trinel Taylor shot 83% from the field on his way to 13 points along with seven rebounds and six assists and Kyle Bailey went 7-for-13 to rack up 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Richard Abbott, who posted nine points.

University was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Freedom's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. University won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Cypress Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Freedom, they will host Lyman at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
