Softball Game Preview: Kennebunk Rams vs. Massabesic Mustangs

The Kennebunk Rams will face off against the Massabesic Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kennebunk is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

Kennebunk proved they can win big on Monday (they won by 12) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 win over Bonny Eagle. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Scots recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Juliann Pike was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Massabesic was able to grind out a solid win over Biddeford on Monday, taking the game 9-4.

Kennebunk's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Massabesic, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Kennebunk couldn't quite finish off Massabesic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
