Football Recap: West Davidson Takes a Loss + How To Watch

After flying high against Trinity last Friday, West Davidson came back down to earth. The Dragons were outmatched by the East Davidson Golden Eagles and fell 49-10. The Dragons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-3.

When it comes to explaining why West Davidson lost on Friday, don't look at Carson Correll. Despite the final result, he rushed for 157 yards and three scores on only ten carries, and also threw for 101 yards and a pair of TDs. The Dragons are 4-1 when Correll posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 2-3 otherwise. Ethan McClosky was Correll's top target, picking up 45 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 89 yards and one TD.

Landon Hollar had an outrageously good game for East Davidson as he rushed for 153 yards and three scores on only eight carries. Those 153 rushing yards gave Hollar a new career-high.

West Davidson moved to 6-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for East Davidson, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-8 record.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. West Davidson will face off against Madison at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Dragons will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.6 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for East Davidson, they will challenge Hendersonville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
