Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for New Smyrna Beach

New Smyrna Beach extended their winning streak to four games thanks to a huge performance from Owen Mclaughlin. The New Smyrna Beach Barracudas walked away with a 58-45 victory over the Seminole Ridge Hawks on Friday thanks in part to Mclaughlin, who went 8 for 14 en route to 17 points and seven boards. The match was his fourth in a row with at least ten points.

Jd Fieser was another key player, putting up nine points and seven rebounds. He continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.

Several Hawks players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jonah Pio, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Sroda, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

New Smyrna Beach's record now sits at 14-6. As for Seminole Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season.

New Smyrna Beach has already played their next game, a 40-34 win against Spanish River on the 25th. As for Seminole Ridge, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Seminole Ridge Hawks duke it out with the FAU High Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
