Volleyball Game Preview: Wilby Wildcats vs. Oxford Wolverines

Wilby is 0-9 against Oxford since October of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to take on the Wolverines at 5:15 p.m.

On Tuesday, Wilby came up short against St. Paul Catholic and fell 3-1.

Wilby started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-17, 25-13, 25-23.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Oxford and Crosby meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 3-0 win.

Oxford never let Crosby on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-23, 25-21.

Wilby's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Oxford, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.

Wilby might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from Oxford when the teams last played back in September of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
