Basketball Game Preview: Martinsville Pirates vs. Brookeland Wildcats

Martinsville took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 77-19 victory over Wells. The win continues a trend for Martinsville in their matchups with Wells: they've now won five in a row.

Meanwhile, Brookeland waltzed into their match on Tuesday with 11 straight wins... but they left with 12. They claimed a resounding 85-7 victory over the Pirates. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-4.

Brookeland's win was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 30-4. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 20.5 points over those games. As for Martinsville, their victory bumped their record up to 20-13.

Martinsville took a serious blow against Brookeland in their previous matchup back in November of 2021, falling 50-20. Can Martinsville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
