Basketball Recap: New Prairie Gets the Win

Boone Grove came into Thursday's matchup looking for another win against New Prairie, but Brody Wiginton wouldn't allow it. The New Prairie Cougars enjoyed a cozy 55-39 victory over the Boone Grove Wolves on Thursday which was due in part to Wiginton, who dropped a double-double with 28 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of New Prairie's points.

Jagger Daniels was another key player, going 5-for-10 en route to 12 points and five steals. New Prairie is 2-1 when Daniels posts three or more steals, but 3-16 otherwise.

Despite the loss, Boone Grove still got an impressive performance from Jack Stevens, who posted 18 points. The game was Stevens' seventh in a row with at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Andrew Batesole, who earned eight points.

New Prairie's record now sits at 5-17. As for Boone Grove, they moved to 10-11 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. New Prairie will square off against Glenn at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Prairie is facing Glenn at the right time seeing as Glenn is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Boone Grove, they will challenge Whiting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Boone Grove is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.9 points per game this season.
