Baseball Game Preview: Vinton Lions vs. DeQuincy Tigers

Vinton hasn't had much luck against DeQuincy recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Vinton Lions take on DeQuincy Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.

Vinton barely beat East Beauregard the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Vinton blew past East Beauregard 10-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won five games by nine runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask DeQuincy). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Pickering a 21-0 shutout on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

DeQuincy pushed their record up to 16-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Vinton, their victory bumped their record up to 11-2.

Vinton couldn't quite finish off DeQuincy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 7-5. Can Vinton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
