After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Grandfield, Paoli was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They really took it to the Thackerville Wildcats for the full four quarters, racking up an 82-36 victory. With the Pugs ahead 46-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Braxton Compton had a dynamite game, rushing for 240 yards and five scores while picking up 11.4 yards per carry, and also throwing for 124 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes. Those five rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.
Another reason for the win was Paoli's imposing defensive line, which managed to get into the backfield for ten sacks. Cobey Williamson led the group effort, picking up five of those sacks all by himself.
The win got Paoli back to even at 1-1. As for Thackerville, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
