Football Recap: Liberal Takes a Loss

Liberal faced Lockwood in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Bulldogs took a blow against the Tigers, falling 72-20. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Bulldogs of the 70-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2024.

Although Liberal took the loss, they still got scores from Kaidon Simpson, Elam Beaman, and Bentley Moore.

This is the second loss in a row for Liberal and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Lockwood, the win keeps them at an undefeated 6-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Liberal will square off against Appleton City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Lockwood, they will face off against New Heights Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers will be up against the Cougars' rather soft defense (which has allowed 69.83 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
