Baseball Game Preview: Grand Junction Tigers vs. Fruita Monument Wildcats

Grand Junction hasn't had much luck against Fruita Monument recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Tigers will take on the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Grand Junction is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

Grand Junction is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since March 15th on Friday. They came up short against Palisade, falling 11-3.

Zyler Fazzi was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Johnson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one RBI.

Meanwhile, Fruita Monument entered their tilt with Grand Junction Central on Friday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Warriors.

The team relied heavily on Josh Weaver, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. Dean Marsh also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Grand Junction's loss dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Fruita Monument, their victory bumped their record up to 12-8.

Grand Junction couldn't quite finish off Fruita Monument when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 5-3. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
