Softball Preview: Hector Wildcats vs. Westside Rebels

Hector has gone 9-1 against Westside recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Hector Wildcats will take on the Westside Rebels at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Hector has four straight wins, Westside has five straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Hector is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on Mountainburg with a sharp 16-0 victory on Thursday. Fans of the Wildcats have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.

Sarena Myers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Addison Campbell was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Reece Vincent was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Westside fell victim to Hackett and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Hornets, falling 24-0.

Hector's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Westside, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
