Preview: Montesano vs. Shelton
Shelton will challenge Montesano on the road at Montesano High School at 7:00 PM on Friday. Shelton are the clear underdogs, so they're hoping it's the size of the fight that determines this one.
Shelton couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They found themselves the reluctant recipients of an unpleasant 14-35 punch to the gut against North Mason last Friday. The game was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but Shelton was outplayed the rest of the way.
Montesano had to travel to play their first game of the season, and the final result was worth the trip. They blew past Aberdeen 40-8. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Montesano had established a 40-8 advantage.
Montesano's win lifted them to 1-0 while Shelton's defeat dropped them down to 0-1. We'll find out if Montesano can add another positive mark to their record or if Shelton can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Montesano's step.
