Baseball Recap: Appomattox County's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

After only one run in their last contest, Appomattox County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Gretna on Tuesday. The Raiders put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 14-0 win. With that victory, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Isaac Records tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Appomattox County got a massive performance out of Jack Wilkerson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The Raiders are undefeated when Wilkerson posts two or more runs, but 2-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Micah Wilson, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one double.

Appomattox County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. The last time their OBP was this high was was before the start of last season.

Appomattox County's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-4. As for Gretna, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Coming up, Appomattox County will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Buckingham at 5:30 p.m. The Knights will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last. As for Gretna, they have already played their next game, a 22-12 victory against Chatham on the 16th.
