Clairemont has gone 6-1 against Canyon Hills recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Chieftains are taking a road trip to take on the Rattlers at 4:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Clairemont had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Hilltop on Wednesday. The Chieftains blew past the Lancers 11-2. With that victory, the Chieftains brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

Justice Reese tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
At the plate, Maddy Finley was a standout: she went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Camryn Walton also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Clairemont hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon Hills). They never let Madison get on the board and left with a 15-0 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Rattlers in their matchups with the Warhawks: they've now won nine in a row.
Natalye Debus was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Karalyne Tabada, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Lacey Mancuso, who scored a run while going 1-for-1.
Clairemont has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon Hills, their record now sits at 10-5.
Both Clairemont and Canyon Hills just can't seem to miss. The Chieftains have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Canyon Hills struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Clairemont beat Canyon Hills 4-1 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftains since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
