Baseball Recap: 11 Straight Home Wins for Newcastle

Newcastle got themselves on the board against Mount St. Mary on Tuesday, but Mount St. Mary never followed suit. They came out on top against the Rockets by a score of 5-0. The victory continues a trend for the Racers in their matchups with the Rockets: they've now won four in a row.

Tyler Frazier made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles and two RBI. Those three doubles gave him a new career-high.

Frazier wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Lane Seaton, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Newcastle pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Mount St. Mary, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-6.

The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Newcastle 2.3, the Bluejays 1.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Mount St. Mary (ranked 28th) will meet Christian Heritage (ranked 162nd) at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
