North Branford faced Hale Ray in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Thunderbirds sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over the Noises. The victory was familiar territory for the Thunderbirds, who have now won eight matchups in a row.

Lauren Vitarisi spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than ten strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

North Branford pushed their record up to 22-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Hale Ray, they moved to 19-4 with that defeat, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

As of now, neither North Branford nor the Noises have any future games scheduled.
