Soccer Game Preview: Browne vs. Independence

The Browne Bruins and the Independence Patriots will round out the year against one another at at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.

Friday just wasn't the day for Browne's offense. They came up short against Shadow Ridge last Friday, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Bruins can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona soccer rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Stallions are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, Independence had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 goals) and they went ahead and made it three last Monday. Everything went their way against the Owls as they made off with a 7-2 win. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly five goals.

This is the second loss in a row for Browne and nudges their season record down to 3-3. As for Independence, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1-2.

Browne suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to Independence in their previous matchup back in December of 2019. Can Browne avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
