Preview: Marlington Dukes vs. Salem Quakers
Marlington has enjoyed the comforts of home their last four games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Salem Quakers at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
On Saturday, Marlington lost to Howland at home by a decisive 55-39 margin. While losing is never fun, Marlington can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Howland is ranked 71st).
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Salem, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 47-32 loss to Carrollton on Wednesday.
Marlington's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Salem, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
Marlington didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Salem when the teams last played back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 45-39 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Marlington since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
