Softball Recap: Upper Scioto Valley Rams vs. Riverdale Falcons
Upper Scioto Valley had lost ten straight at home dating back to last season, but on Thursday they dropped down to 4-8 to make it 11. They came up short against the Riverdale Falcons, falling 17-9. The Rams were not able to make up for their defeat to the Falcons from their previous meeting back in March of 2024.
Bentley Lopez stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Chloe Cunningham, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one double.
As for Riverdale, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-7. Considering they have won four contests by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
On Riverdale's side, they got a massive performance out of Kenzie Furr, who went 4-for-5 with four runs and two stolen bases. Those four hits gave Furr a new career-high. Hannah Vent also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Upper Scioto Valley will face off against Kenton at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Riverdale, they will challenge Pandora-Gilboa at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
