Monte Vista has gone a perfect 8-0 against Mount Miguel recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Monarchs will head out to square off against the Matadors at 6:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Monte Vista has three straight wins, Mount Miguel has 17 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Wednesday, Monte Vista made easy work of Grossmont and carried off a 3-0 victory.

While Monte Vista won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the second set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 27-25, 25-21.

Meanwhile, Mount Miguel came up short against Valhalla on Tuesday and fell 3-1.

While Mount Miguel ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 21-25, 25-21, 25-17.

Mount Miguel's loss dropped their record down to 4-29. As for Monte Vista, their win bumped their record up to 20-12.

Everything went Monte Vista's way against Mount Miguel when the teams last played back in April, as Monte Vista made off with a 3-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Monarchs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
