Soccer Game Preview: Rio Mesa vs. Dos Pueblos

The Rio Mesa Spartans will head out on the road to take on the Dos Pueblos Chargers at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dos Pueblos took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Rio Mesa, who comes in off a win.

Rio Mesa will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Saturday, then bounced right back against Chaminade on Saturday. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 4-1 margin over the Eagles.

Angel Tejada and Aiden Gonzalez scored all four of Rio Mesa's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 11 goals.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Dos Pueblos' offense. They fell just short of Liberty by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Dos Pueblos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 401st, while Liberty are ranked 142nd).

Dos Pueblos' defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-3. As for Rio Mesa, they now have a winning record of 6-5-3.

Rio Mesa skirted past Dos Pueblos 3-2 in their previous meeting back in January of 2025. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Chargers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
