Football Game Preview: Lakeland Lakers vs. Central Noble Cougars

The Lakeland Lakers will square off against the Central Noble Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Central Noble took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Lakeland, who comes in off a win.

Lakeland will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up seven points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against Angola on Friday. The Lakers secured a 33-27 W over the Hornets. The Lakers haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Lakeland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brayden Holbrook, who threw for 367 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 13.1 yards per attempt. Those 367 passing yards gave Holbrook a new career-high. Levi Cook was Holbrook's top target, picking up 117 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Meanwhile, Central Noble lost to Fremont on the road by a 40-22 margin on Friday.

Central Noble's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lakeland, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Everything came up roses for Lakeland against Central Noble in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-14 victory. In that matchup, the Lakers amassed a halftime lead of 55-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
