Preview: Wahoo Warriors vs. Crete Cardinals
Wahoo is 8-1 against the Cardinals since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Wahoo Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Crete Cardinals at 8:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Wahoo was handed a three-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against the Rams on Tuesday. Wahoo blew past the Rams 88-23 on the road. Given Wahoo's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Rams are ranked 192nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wahoo can attribute much of their success to Dylan Simons, who scored 12 points along with seven assists and two steals, and Marcus Glock, who scored 19 points along with two steals. Simons has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times he's played. Kaden Christen was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, Crete put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 71-13 victory over Schuyler on the road. That looming 71-13 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Crete yet this season.
Wahoo is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season. As for Crete, their win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-0.
Wahoo strolled past the Cardinals when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 76-61. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wahoo since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
