Football Recap: Columbus East Starts Season with Loss on the Road

Columbus East had to start their season on the road on Friday, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They were dealt a 42-7 loss at the hands of the Bloomington South Panthers. The Olympians have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Kyson Villarreal threw for 122 yards and one touchdown. Mykel Jones was his top target, picking up 49 receiving yards.

Braylen Townsend was a one-man wrecking crew For Bloomington South. as he rushed for 202 yards and three TDs while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Townsend's rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his seventh straight game with at least 107 rushing yards dating back to last season. Jonathan Winstead did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 84 receiving yards.

Columbus East wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 52-7 defeat against Columbus North on the 29th. As for Bloomington South, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 38-27 win against Martinsville on the 29th.
