The Pisgah Dragons are taking a road trip to take on the Puckett Wolves at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Pisgah is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Pisgah had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt West Lincoln on Friday. Pisgah blew past West Lincoln 11-0. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by seven runs or more this season.
Ally Young made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season.
In other batting news, Pisgah let Madysen Washington and Alex Holeman run wild. Washington scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Holeman scored two runs while going 2-for-4. What's more, Washington posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Cooper, who went 1-for-2 with four RBI.
Pisgah hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most four strikeouts in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, in Friday's Canine Competition, Puckett came out on top. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Mize 5-3. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won seven in a row.
Lila Murphy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooke Shivers, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Aubrey Pardue, who went 2-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Pisgah's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Puckett, their record now sits at 8-4-1.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pisgah hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .386. However, it's not like Puckett struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Pisgah's way against Puckett in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Pisgah made off with an 11-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pisgah since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
