After some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last three matchups, Holton finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Shelby Tigers by a score of 2-1. The Red Devils' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Holton's loss dropped their record down to 11-14. As for Shelby, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-9 record this season.

Holton and Shelby could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Michigan Rankings. The Red Devils will challenge St. Louis on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (271 vs. 43). Meanwhile, Shelby (ranked 208th) will meet Morley Stanwood (ranked 85th) on Saturday.
